The Yanchep rail extension will deliver the last proposed section of the Joondalup Line from Butler, 14.5km north to Yanchep, including new stations at Alkimos, Eglinton and Yanchep.
This project will help develop activity centres by stimulating new employment opportunities in the Alkimos secondary centre, Eglinton district centre and Yanchep Strategic Metropolitan Centre. The project also supports higher density land use for residential and commercial purposes.
In December 2019, the NEWest Alliance was announced as the successful Alliance to deliver the Yanchep Rail Extension. Early works and detailed design are underway, with main construction work expected to start in mid-2020.
More information on the Yanchep Rail Extension project is available on the METRONET website.
