Rail Heritage WA, Bassendean
Rail Heritage WA is a volunteer organisation which has, for 60 years, been dedicated to preserving the history of railways in Western Australia. It developed, and now operates, the Railway Museum in Bassendean, which is the only museum in the state dedicated to the Railways of WA.
The judges noted that the group has shown a long-term and professional commitment to sharing the history of railways in Western Australia. Demonstrating a significant benefit to the heritage industry, the group ensure traditional skills are not lost as they undertake work to restore and eventually display important locomotives.
The Government of Western Australia acknowledges the traditional custodians throughout Western Australia and their continuing connection to the land, waters and community. We pay our respects to all members of the Aboriginal communities and their cultures; and to Elders both past and present.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised that this site may contain images of people who are deceased.
