Heritage practices by a local government

A local government that demonstrates an outstanding whole-of-agency approach to the commitment and promotion of cultural heritage and/or heritage-related work, services or programs in Western Australia.

Commendation: City of Wanneroo

The City of Wanneroo has demonstrated they are invested in protecting and promoting the cultural heritage of Wanneroo through their recently developed Cultural Plan with a focus on heritage, museums and the arts.

The city has shown great commitment to protecting the wreck of the Alex T Brown, one of only two four-masted schooners wrecked in Australia. The wreck lies on a Yanchep beach and is one of the few shipwrecks occasionally visible to the public along the metropolitan coast when it becomes exposed during winter storms.
