Heritage listing for City Beach’s Quarry Amphitheatre
Monday 13 May 2019

The Quarry Amphitheatre in City Beach, a performance venue set in a former limestone quarry, has been added to the State Register of Heritage Places.

The site has significant value as the only former limestone quarry that has been adapted for re-use as an amphitheatre in Western Australia.

Located on Reabold Hill, in a bushland setting, the Quarry Amphitheatre has panoramic and unobstructed views of Bold Park and Perth city.

Diana Waldron, founder of the Perth City Ballet and her husband, architect Ken Waldron, were responsible for the inception of the amphitheatre, as well as fundraising and construction.
