Local company RJ Vincent to demolish and remediate Princess Margaret Hospital

Local WA company RJ Vincent has been awarded the contract to demolish and remediate the iconic Princess Margaret Hospital site in Subiaco.

The demolition development application was recently approved, with early works to commence onsite in August and major structural demolition to begin in early 2021.

The demolition and remediation work at Princess Margaret Hospital is part of the Subi East project, which will create a vibrant inner-city village between Subiaco and the Perth CBD.

The 35,000sqm site includes two heritage buildings, Godfrey House and the Old Outpatients Building, which will be protected and preserved during the works. Other buildings are being considered for retention as part of the Master Planning process.

RJ Vincent, who undertook the successful demolition of the former Subiaco Oval grandstands and reinstatement of the oval, will work with stakeholders and the local community to plan the works program and create a timeline for demolition, which is expected to take 18 months.

RJ Vincent will seek to recycle up to 96 per cent of materials as it did with the Subiaco Oval project.

The draft Subi East Master Plan has recently been released for public comment. The final Master Plan is anticipated to be completed before the end of the year.
